Ye Olde Neglected Blog

Ah, once so meticulously maintained....and then you two grew up a bit and life became hectic.
Not that I'm complaining, but I often think that I need to "check in" with this extra party in our life.

Give a status.
Share an observation.
Post a picture. (Somewhat less of those these days, although when I see people posting pictures of babies on Facebook I TOTALLY get it and get nostalgic). Kids are something else.

So this morning as I was waking up I was thinking of you two. One, because Zoe made her customary weekend entrance and directed "WAKE UP MOM!" (pause) "WAKE UP MOM!" (response: in  a minute Zoe, let me wake up). "I WANT TO WATCH PBS KIDS!"
(Ok. You want to watch it here? I'll turn it on.) Done.
Roman? He's always still sleeping. I'm not sure I can think of a time when he woke up naturally before his sister. Nor can I think of a time when he was more willing to go to bed at night than his sister.

I was also thinking of how you both can astound me still. Or amuse me (or your dad, or one of your grandparents).
Roman's stilted speech pattern when he's constructing a more complicated sentence or conveying a new concept.
Zoe's snappy responses.
Makes me smile. Makes me realize we need to appreciate the time we're in, even if it means dealing with the developing independence and boundary-making behaviors (or transgressions as it may be).

Halloween

The Saturday before Halloween you two had the opportunity to dress up for a Halloween party at our city's community center.

Spiderman and the princess.

Ms Katrina was there when we arrived.

You got to play games

Lots of games.

and win some prizes (although if I remember right you aren't going to win any golf tournaments any time soon)

Ring tossing? Pretty good actually.

Bingo!

Zoe had a new costume every time we dressed up. Saturday we went to an orchard.

Batgirl.
Spidey was consistent.

Wha'? You no likey the pink?

Halloween morning.
Boho?
Gypsy?
Whatever floats your boat, little girl.

momentary distress.

A bird in hand.

And back to Princess for the big night.
This girl knows what she wants, and she wanted flowery gardening gloves.

Remember this look.
Sullen "what are you talking about" look.

It was tough to get Zo on the stairs for this one. The monster on the step freaked her out.

But Roman was there to protect her.
And I probably promised her a piece of candy if she posed.

We went out for over an hour - this time in our very own neighborhood (imagine that!).
Dad was at school :( but did get to hear about it when he got home.
You two were also a big help handing out candy once we did get home. "KIDS ARE HERE!!!" Roman was grabbing handfuls of candy - making for some happy kids no doubt. And making sure we didn't have leftovers. And that's just fine.
