Happy Dance!

Because the kids are interested in mowing the lawn?
Well, yes. But more that it was SO NICE out today. What a great day to be off work. We were able to clean up the yard a bit and take out some fun summer toys.  Zoe ditched the hoodie after a short time, and wouldn't put it back on. Roman followed suit not too much later. I couldn't blame them.

I had to pause and be thankful for our yard. We have a small house, which oddly enough I don't really dwell on as much as I used to, but we have a great yard for the kids to play in. No, it's not perfect , but this time of year it certainly is fun to spend the day in that "room". We were out all day. More to follow.

Summer fun, aka pool time

We've had a weird summer. It started late and hasn't been all that hot. When it is, we make sure to use the kiddie pool. Bath time has become play time, so I figure we'd use the pool to burn some energy too. It's a good way to cool off after a long walk.

We've got some pool toys. A fish that swims, an alligator that paddles and a lobster that swishes its tail.
Wind them up and...

...in the mouth they go. Apparently Roman likes lobster.

And Zoe, she's getting the hang of splashing (and wincing).

Summer time!

After some crappy weather (summer, where are you?!) we finally had a nice weekend. Mama wasn't so good at documenting this weekend. My work trip got me out of blog mode. Actually I'm finding it totally throws me off and I'm all out of sorts. Hopefully I'll be re-adjusted soon. Today would be good. :)
Friday night we met Grandma Jane and headed to the North St Paul Car show. Always a good time. This is the town your Grandpa Jon grew up in, so it's fun to go back and visit. I always think of NSP as a suburb, but I left Friday night thinking it's more like a small town. Whatever that means! We'll be back again this summer, so consider this fair notice you'll be seeing car pictures sometime soon. Babes and cars.

I spent Saturday cracking the whip - daddy helped with a bunch of housekeeping duties. And we got you out of the house to visit more people (you really do love that). Daddy's aunt's stepson had an open house for graduation (Tina's Max), so we spent a few hours hanging out by their pool.

I suppose that was inspiration for Sunday.
Hangin' at the pool.

Okay, it's really a bath, but hey you gotta start somewhere, right?

Of course things OUTSIDE the pool are interesting.

Camera time! Of course I couldn't get them both to look at the camera.

Daddy's working the video camera and got a smile from Zoe.

Don't worry guys, we're working on a bigger pool!

Kickin' back...

Walkie Walkies

Saturday wasn't great weather, but it wasn't awful either.
After some garage and other sales in the morning we made a stop at Long Lake Regional Park (New Brighton) for a walk.
They had a little museum and a train car. Closed, of course but nice and red for a good photo background.

If I'm not mistaken this is the railroad that your Grandpa Jon worked for when he was in high school. He cooked and would take the train to Chicago and even out west. I'm not going to let either one of you do that when you're in high school. Don't even think about it. In fact, I don't think we want to tell you all Grandpa's stories - "Potato" Jon, running away, motorcycling cross country...No, not yet (although mom might want to collect them...hint, hint).

Sandals weather

Okay, we're just being teased now. We've had a few really nice days. Into the 80's even. Yesterday? 40's. Not right. Not right at all.

About a week or so ago I came home to find the family out on the patio, enjoying the weather.

Roman was bouncing in his jumper, oops bouncy bouncy, and sporting the new sandals Grandma Candy bought him. This would be the 2nd pair of shoes that actually stay on his feet. I think velcro is the key. Those little sandals are SO CUTE. I think half the reason Grandma bought them is because Daddy won't wear sandals. You'll have to talk to him about that. and btw I think I've seen him wear shorts less than a dozen times in the 6 years I've known him.

Below, Roman enjoys a handful of hair. They both like that for some reason.

Meanwhile, Zoe was enjoying her swing. This was the day I realized we had to have two bouncy bouncies. It didn't seem fair that she couldn't bounce along at the same time. Not that she's as spastic as Roman, but hey, she needs the opportunity too!
