Our other Twins

We got your Dad out to Target Field....I love this stadium.  Truth is I'm not much of a sports fan, but this is a cool place....

At some point I followed baseball and even went to a bunch of games at the old Met Stadium (long gone, now Mall of America sits atop the site). Based on the baseball cards I found, and recognize, 1980 was prime time baseball loving for your mom.
Roy Smalley (). Bombo Rivera (best...name...ever).

Then when I got older I got into it again. Probably when they were good again, but it's not been on the radar anytime lately  I realized I was getting old when I told someone at work that I went to playoff game in 1987. By the look on his face, I realized 1987 was probably ancient history to him. Or at least not a year that held a place in his memory bank.

Oh whatever. That's what happens. You age.

Except when you see Mickey Mouse you still want to pose with him for a picture.

"For the kids".

clearing off the little camera

That is the one that fits in my purse. The one I don't look at as often anymore. Evidenced by some pictures I forgot I had.

Cheese!

Or a vintage bus ride in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis. They had some activities (garage sales!) and a circulating bus from the Minnesota Transportation Museum

The highlight of our day, as it was cool and rainy. Blech.

Startin' 'em young

Thanks to a late spring garage sale.

Roadside distractions

cheese! Actually that was across the highway. And Zoe wouldn't go near the large fiberglass cow (come on!). Good thing we found you, elephant.

I don't know about you , but those glasses make this elephant seem very urbane and smart. Or just funny.

And you two can touch the belly. Not that getting close to it didn't take some cajoling.

But then it was old hat. The color pink could only get you in Zo's good graces, Herr Elephant.

Yes, the pie is worth an embrace

We took a little road trip, the kids, Grandma Candy and me (Daddy was busy with work, and we'll take that when we can get it).  And what happens on a road trip? A little sightseeing and bit of belly filling.  And lucky for us we were passing the Norske Nook right around lunch time.

It was worth the 15 minute wait for a table.  I mean we got to pick flowers and everything ;)

This stilt walker was REALLY intriguing to you, Zo

And better yet, she stopped to give you a high five.

Here's the key

Tonight Roman was able to learn and recite back what most of Daddy's keys were for.
"this...one...is...for..our....house.....this one is for....your work...." I love his staccato speech patterns. He's so deliberate when he is saying something new. And your Dad got a kick out of watching you learn this....making "thinking" faces the whole way thru.

O Canada!

More fun from Flint Hills Children's Festival...

Good thing your Dad has patience. He took the time to make a cool hat for Roman.

Your Mom, well she helped scribble in the flower and attach it to your hat, Zo.

An exhibit on the 1960's starts this fall....

Now that's history.

Oh my. At least it is to you.

Where's my 'olka dot 'ankie?

Well the kids are all hopped up and ready to go*

A couple of Sundays ago we went to the Flint Hills Childrens Festival in downtown St Paul. How awesome was that? Note to self: while the activities die down by 3pm on a Sunday, so do the crowds. We were able to get baby's first tattoo with not too long of a wait.

Zo was pretty darn good, which I think surprised the artist who suggested "something simple".

Roman got a slightly more elaborate one.

And hair. Boy, oh boy. Hair. There was a booth where you could get yourself all decorated up... When asked what she wanted, Zoe said "pink". Ok. I think we kind of fudged that one (purple/pink...close enough).

And Grandma Candy was with us and suggested a spikey 'do for the Ro, much like the boy in front of him. Yeah, with that much hair the results were humorous. It made me laugh, and THAT is a good thing.

Our own neighborhood tough. Just needs a pack of candy cigarettes wrapped up in that sleeve.

And this picture reminds me of Run, Lola, Run for some reason. And I really like it. The colors came out fan-tas-tic.

A little surprised, Ro? Tee hee, it's still funny a week later.

And a repost, but MAN look at the COLOR.

The first annual Pianos on Parade is going on in downtown St Paul. Pretty nifty.

* As I tried to figure out a title, all I could hear in my head is the song that begins with this lyric. So there.
