It's a Heron Egg Hunt.

So how does that work out when the ground is covered with snow?

Makes for some easy pickin's

Baby Animal time.

A little springtime (if you can call it that!) fun.

At the local nature center.

Complete with baby chicks.

Which Roman worked up his courage to hold.

And it was good.

And Zoe too.

Little chicks for little hands.

There were even baby ducks.

A couple of bunnies (and an unpictured goat - he ate the "can I publish your photo on my blog" waiver that I asked him to sign).

More ART

We went to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on family day and part of the activities included something of a scavenger hunt. We got a booklet with a couple dozen paintings that we needed to find throughout the museum. It's a pretty big museum actually, but thankfully the booklet had a map of exactly where we needed to look. So we meandered.
And took pictures next to things that weren't in the booklet. Like the ART above.

Zoe is telling me right now that I need to add that "it had pictures in it because that was an art museum but it looked like the White House."
And I asked: "What's the White House?"
And Zoe said: The president's house.

I must say I did not know she knew that.

This may be my Facebook avatar soon.
Disturbed clown.

Painting not in the scavenger hunt.
But Disney-related in a tangential way.
Ariel!

What kid (or kid's mom) isn't drawn to this?

Except just across the way a wall of animation was playing. Several screens wide.
Roman says "I liked that movie"
Why?
Roman: Because it looked pretty cool
Zoe: and it was like a graveyard
Roman: And there was Barbie heads that were cut off of people...
...that freaked me out."

Yeah, it's art folks.
A little creepy, but not over the top creepy.

Pretty dress. :)

MIA

Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Family Day.
Meandering through the building and we found one of two places were easels were set up for little ones.

Budding artists.

The theme of the day was buildings and the direction, in a loose and arty way, was to draw your own cityscape.

Out the window was the downtown Minneapolis skyline.

And you guys DID draw tall buildings.

With windows.

I think at some point I asked what they saw and Roman picked up on the antennae on top of one o the buildings. They then ALL got antennae. Why not?

Zoe: Mom, I sleep with my eyes open.
Me: No, you don't Zo.
Zoe: YES, I DO!
Me: No....I'll take a picture some time and show you.

Upon seeing the photo:
Zoe: Take another one tonight. I sleep with my eyes open.
And yes, this is de rigeur lately. Zoe doesn't want to sleep in her own bed and Roman is putting up with it.  You do look like little angels when you sleep.

Bribery

If you bring in you new peacock by the pool (after getting ready for swim lessons by getting on your suit), I will take your picture.
Oddly it worked to get the 'I don't want to go to swim lessons' out of her head.
