Silverwood!

We got Roman and Dad to come along on another adventure today. It had been awhile since we'd been back to Silverwood. Such a nice park. If I had to pick a wedding location this is where I'd choose. The building and terrace are lovely and the landscaping around it very Minnesota. And it's centrally located. And has art sporadically placed throughout the park.

We brought a picnic lunch and ate on the small peninsula.

Always an opportunity to check out the wildlife.
And guess what?

They rent canoes!
$5 for each 30 minutes - what a great way to try it out.

Even though someone was a little nervous. Maybe that had to do with me spinning around in my seat and making the boat go tippy tippy. By the time we were almost done Roman was also having a good time :)
Maybe a preview of what's to come this summer!

Sucker!

"Mom, why do you keep saying that?"
Sucker!

Playground.
Well first there were geese, and then with geese there is goose poop....but then there was this.

Decent playground, right next to a couple picnic pavilions and bathrooms with running water (always a plus).
Notice the hair? She wanted it cut, so we went yesterday. I advised the cutter to keep a few more inches than Ms Zoe indicated.

They've come a long way on the playground equipment. There isn't much they won't try at this point. I don't know why I was so surprised it took this long!

I gotta say my phone takes some pretty sharp pictures!

I had Zoe take my picture. We started down this path, but the grass got to be tall and wispy. Zoe said she didn't like to walk in grass unless she had tall socks, and she didn't have tall socks.  Okay then. I think this had something to do with the morning's conversation about wearing tall socks in the woods to avoid ticks.

We turned around and went back to the car on the paved path. Halfway there Zoe screamed bloody murder because a spider momentarily landed on her hand. FREAK OUT!

Ah, I don't think we'll be camping anytime soon, although I am liking these Sunday morning walks.

Cue the pomp and circumstance

Last Day of School

to bookend the first day of school

We attended two different 'graduation ceremonies'. Each class sang a couple songs and in Roman's they were awarded an award that suited their skills. Upon presentation they were asked their favorite part of kindergarten. Roman's answer "choice time" which I think is right up there with lunch and recess. Choice time is when they get to pick what they play with.

The Shark Award, for your fierce skills in science.

Zoe had a ceremony about an hour after Roman's. She'd picked out her dress a few days before. The content of their graduations was top secret, but Zoe did ask me the morning of graduation if I though a kazoo would fit in the bow of the back of her dress.
Hmmmm.

Kazoo time for 'Happy Trails to You' and "You are My Sunshine"
Both classes sang 'First Grade, First Grade" to the tune of NewYork, New York....Start spreading the news, we're leaving today...we want to be a part of it, First Grade, First Grade...if we can make it here, we'll make it anywhere....so here we come First Grade, First Grade."

The graduate.

The sign that greeted us outside the classroom.

With her friend, Alex.

And with Gabe.

And Mrs. Johnson. I think Zoe is going to miss her.
But she's in good hands...
