inevitable

It had to happen.

At some point your Dad became frustrated with the "I don't want to go to bed" routine and flipped the lock on your door so WE could lock it and keep you in.  (Yes We are Awesome Parents?)

Problem solved, but it doesn't come without its dilemmas.  Seems kind of mean. Seems kind of misguided (i.e. deal with the problem with words and "I'm in charge here" kind of maneuvers).   Seems unsafe (ever since I was young I've lived in fear of house fires....even slept with bra on for the longest time 'just in case'.  Just in case you're stuck outside in the middle of the night with just your pajamas and tv cameras aimed at you. Is that too much sharing? ;) We have a small audience here, so...so what? Don't tell me you don't have quirks that are based on something silly.

The modified lock is a Bad Idea because....someone is going to get locked in. SOMEONE is going to click that lock and shut the door when you Mom is in there putting laundry away or tidying up.
SOMEONE is going to push that button and shut the door with Roman, Zoe and Grandma Candy in the room when no one else is home.
No?

Yes.
No fear.  After a few panicked minutes and a I search that resulted in no sharp pointy objects (Parents: redeemed),  Grandma MacGyvered it out of the room with a flattened out key ring.

Go Grandma.

Wonderpets, my

Yes we're awesome parents. For letting our unsuspecting 3 year old go on this ride. Far right, the one with the floppy arms and neck. And the look of terror. Actually it was 1) big frown 2) Just about to cry 3) OMG, they're going up AGAIN 4) I think I'm going to toss my cookies 5) OMG, they're going up AGAIN? This is UNBELIEVABLE.
YWAP. Whiplashed-looking freaked out child. Had to think twice about posting this, but in the end he wasn't upset at all. Wouldn't admit to liking it, but he was okay.

So you guys were able to offer your "assistance" to your Aunt Shannon. See Miss Zoe attemptng to re-situate the flower in Shannon's hair? Yes, Zoe's fond of hair styling.

And reading over your shoulder. Actually they didn't dig into the presents too bad. Grandma Candy did get a collection of tissue paper, thought.

Zo doesn't understand the big deal, but I'm sure she'd try it on for Aunt Shannon anyway. :)

Cake! Cake! Cake! (sugar! Sugar! SUGAR!)

And some pictures with your Dad's Aunt Barb.

And her daughter Ashley

CHEESE (to the rescue). See that big red spot on Roman's nose? He fell out of bed the night before and apparently got rug burn (YWAP). Just a reminder to your Mom that she makes mistakes. Ouch. OUch. ouch. Although I think it looked worse than it was.

And your almost uncle Ryan got in on the action at the end. A little gift card he can help spend. :)
And a good portion of your female Chicago relatives.
Roman, Shannon, Ashley, June, Zoe, Barb, Stephanie (due in September...it's a boy!) and Ashley (another bride this fall!).

Woo hoo!

One lump, or two?

So Sunday evening I says to your Dad, I says, "I'm going to go spend some quality time with my camera".  He hears me. He rustles you up and asks if you want to watch a movie. Of course. Yes. I'm at my computer in the bedroom, the door is open so I can hear the movie start, I hear you settle down. A little chitter chatter at the previews/etc. Normal.

I get going at downloading/cropping/etc some pictures and get a bunch of blog posts up (see below). I get so far along with this that I start to feel like something is wrong. It's that eerie "I have too much time to myself" feeling. You're still quiet, which isn't unusual when you're watching a movie that interests you. But I figure I better go see what's happening.

I go down the hall and see this to my right.

"oh, Daddy's sleep-..."

And then I turn to the left and see why it was so quiet.

Hazelnut flavored coffee creamer.

By the handful.
Yes, we're awesome parents.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
