Good thing we have a Costco membership

Because we need to buy our black olives in bulk. You two go nuts when you see a can of them. And pretty soon the can is gone.

We've learned the fun of putting them on our fingers. Although note that I'm holding Roman's hand. It took a few tries to take this picture because you kept eating them before I could take the picture. We had to have two parents in on this one.

Zoe, dear Zoe. She decided to rub whatever we had for dinner in her hair. Oh Zo.

Good thing bath time is right after dinner time. I don't think that's an accident, actually.

You were even less willing to let me get those on your fingers. Ah- yum!

But once you saw the joy of it, you let them be for a few seconds.

So much more fun to eat this way too. I did this with Bugles when I was a kid. I don't think I touched olives!

Delish!

Drumroll please...

After our pumpkin collecting excursion we headed out to Pine Tree Orchard. The location of the infamous mom picnic tipping incident. I didn't check to see if the bench was commemorated with a plaque... At any rate the drumroll is more for your dad. This is his pick for Fall Fun. So I think it's officially a B family tradition. Due to circumstances (primarily a long food line and your Dad had to have a baked treat!), we spent a majority of our time in the yard just outside the entrance. Mind you, it was nice, but we didn't get much time in the apple orchard or pumpkin patch. I don't think you cared.

Try as I might I couldn't get you two to hang out by the scarecrow. Roman sat, but wouldn't look at me. Oh well. This will give us the progressional view, year by year.

We sat at a picnic table by a very pretty little cluster of plants. Of course Zoe picked herself a mum. And this didn't dawn on me until after I took these pictures and she went back for more. Oops. Nope. Can't do that in public. But I love this picture.

And luckily enough, Dad came back with an apple turnover about this time. MMM good.

And then he stole the camera to get some closeups of the other live things around us.

And a little house. This house was a little more active with little folk than the Roman and Zoe house in the backyard, but I guess that added to the fun.

ik

The four of us also got in a wagon ride. And learned that the highest point in Washington county is up in the orchard. Beautiful view I didn't capture on the moving wagon - nor did we have time to go back and walk around (this year!)

But we did get some apples and some yummy cider to take home.  You two even got to watch the apples getting sorted, bagged and whatever else these people were doing.

Go apples.

Streetcar Saturday

Last weekend we went back to the streetcar - this time to get our pumpkins! $4 gets a ride and a pumpkin. Grandma Candy had the day off, so she came along for the fun.

I think it was an even nicer day this time, but the windows were shut, so Zoe got to sit on her own. Next to Grandma of course.

I took hold of Roman, though. :)
You two are getting SO observant and talkative. Daddy drove by a house with Halloween decorations this week and the talk was all about ghosts and....
Boo!
Got ya.

I think you two were slightly less trepidatious about this trip. Getting to be old pros...

Thru the tunnel... Old hat.

And in the end we had 3 pumpkins.

And unfortunately Grandma Candy had a bruised ankle. Stepping off the train to pick our pumpkins from the "patch" (as it were), she stepped wrong and fell down. Oh no! Zoe was right there to make sure Mima was okay. Embarrassed, bruised and upset it happened...but no broken bones (thank goodness for that!).  I told your Dad next year it was his turn. Last fall I sat down at the picnic table at the orchard with Zoe in my arms and tipped the table over. Yeah. That's a good one.

P.S. Your dad is asleep before me. This happens about once every 2 years. I don't think he's even sick (which is usually what accounts for it). Working hard at his new (full time) part time job...
