Miscellany...it's so NICE to have nice weather!

The kids in the court know where to bring stray turtles. This one made it into our small pond (Laguna Verde?), although Mike said it probably said "I just CAME from there!".
A few days later the kids and Dad saw a turtle halfway down the court, laying eggs in a neighbor's yard. So maybe he was right!

In further exploration, we took a quick walk around Lochness Lake in Blaine. Good thing we were just about done when it started drizzling. A potential fishing spot... If you notice Mike he's looking over the railing into the water. This is kind of going to be like "where's waldo?" Where's Mike? He's looking in the water for critters.

Zoe had a playdate one afternoon and we took it as an opportunity to go for a bike ride. She's not too keen on biking (yet!).  The picture above was taken a few minutes after Roman got stuck in the sand going up hill (and smacked his leg good). He recovered. We'd been on paved trails, but Dad took a detour...We were fine until about 20 minutes later when we were going down a small hill with a curve. Roman was ahead of me and I was thinking he looks like he's going a little fast. Just as I was about to say something (you should slow down) he started going into the grass and did a flip over the handlebars. Scared. Me or him? Both. Not a fun sight and like he said it was more scary than it hurt. But we'll be making sure we stay on very, very flat terrain until the braking skills are up to snuff.

MCM with cousin Audrey

She likes to do her own make-up, thank you very much.

Unfortunately the Minnesota Children's Museum in downtown St Paul is under construction and half the exhibits are closed...

But we had fun anyway!

Dear Mom

Nerstrand Big Woods State Park (Mother's Day)

State park #3 if you're keeping count.
#1 William OBrien (Marine)
#2 Interstate (Taylors Falls)

A hop, skip and a jump.
Ok, about an hour's drive.

Let's go for a walk.

Actually, let's grab one of those free kits for kids while we're at it.
Magnifying glass, wildflower identification book.

That was a good idea for about 5 minutes.
And then it was ALL ABOUT THE WHINING.
I tell ya!!
Based on the trail map I've marked above, over a mile of constant, unrelenting whining. My legs hurt. I'm hungry (we ate lunch an hour ago!). I don't want to walk. There's a bug! I'm hot. I'm cold. I'm hungry (here, have some banana chips). I don't like banana chips! ETC.
But I hoped the site toward the end of the walk would help.
First we came upon this tree.
With a built in ledge.

Starting to whine less.

A smile?
Then not too far down the path we got to the waterfall.

I got my Mother's Day photo with the kids.

Twice!

And I'm looking forward to exploring more this summer!

Donut at Large

Artist's rendering.
One morning little Miss woke up and told me about a terrible dream she'd had. A donut was chasing her and trying to eat her. She drew me a picture."It looked exactly like that, it even looked like it was drawn with pencil."

She liked her flowers

Reading

is an important skill

And a way to push bed time way the heck out.
Roman now has his own room and start sleeping there, but it has morphed back to night time in the same room. For now.

Loves her some sloth...

Deck.

Some people sit nicely.

Others, like to hang out (and get scolded and sprayed with a squirt bottle).

Cub Scout news

Our Tiger is now a Wolf!

From a walk at William O'Brien State Park. A fuzzy wuzzy! Corrected: wooly bear.
BTW, Zoe commented that his hair looks funny (he's since had it cut much shorter!).
