Brookfield Zoo

Aunt Shannon getting Zoe ready for a visit to Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago area.
Aunt Mandy listens to one of Zo's stories.

At the Zoo with Shannon, Mandy and Jared.

Giraffes.

"Jared is funny"

And much taller than you!

Although just about everyone is taller than you.
Except your sibling.

This guy looked like a statue, until he moved.

Your Dad couldn't wait to bring you here.
He loved the place when he was a kid.
We have some shots of architectural details, but I took this one.
Pachyderms in an art deco font. Nice.

Monkeys! This place was really crowded, so you both got to ride on shoulders!

Lucky you!

We got lucky and saw one of the peacocks showing his feathers. Kind of hard to see, but I got Zoe to stand in front of it. She's been somewhat enamored with them for awhile. Well since she found a beanie baby version at a thrift shop. It's BEAUTIFUL and she likes BEAUTIFUL things.
It was pretty cool to see these out in the open, just wandering around. The first one we saw was outside a bathroom. This was more picturesque!

Dolphin show.
All 4 dolphins were pregnant!
Oh my.

The  swamp.

And as we were nearing the end of our day, yet another peacock putting on a show. Nicely placed between the two lions. Did they pay him to do that?!
Can't wait to go back!

Darcie- it is different for sure. Worth a day (and outside of the city a bit). I haven't officially visited Lincoln Park Zoo (just a walk thru pre-hours when I was in town for a conference) but that one looked fun too. Smaller. Different. = Manageable.
