Isle

This is the summer of being a tourist in our own state (among other things).
Mike's side of the family got together over a three day weekend at some cabins on Mille Lacs Lake in Isle, MN (onetime home of Mom's grandparents!).
Being on the lake....what does that mean?

Fishing!
The kids were so excited to try fishing for the first time.

Time with Grandma!

Frolicking on the grass in front of our cabin. Lawn Darts, frisbee, balloon toss, soccer practice....

Making inquiries and faces in the cabin.
"Why is that on the wall?"
You are your Dad's son. The first time we went to Duluth and stayed in a hotel in Canal Park the lobby was decorated with a nautical theme. Your Dad asked, straight-faced "what's with all the boats?" I answered seriously, but he was just being goofy. Gitchee Gummi and all those freighters out the front window...

exploring...

selfi-ing

Posing

Practicing the cast

with a plastic lure....which got caught in the bushes behind the cabin more times than I can count. But...

It worked.

Roman caught this bad boy about 30 seconds after his first cast out on the Lake. As Grandma Jane commented "Grandpa Jon would be proud!" And so were were. Everyone but dad's uncle Brett rushed to Roman's side of the pontoon to take a look....and freaked him out by making the boat lean to one side.

Keeping on.

With some help from Dad.

Cousin Maddie (with the extended relationship qualifier I don't get) and Zoe

Patience.

And a little calm.

And I thought this was adorable. Roman and Zoe made a friend in Mia...Can't wait for next year ;)
