Miss Katrina & the overnight camping trip

We took a 'let's test the waters' camping trip a few weekends ago. You guys were so excited. That morning Zoe asked Dad if 'this night' was the night for camping. He said yes. There was conversation about 'if the weather is nice enough" and Zo asked to put on the channel that tells you about the weather. So apparently you watched that for awhile. And just a bit later Dad noticed Zo had put her beloved 'pink polka dot' (blankie) and pillow by the back door. READY TO GO, DAD! Excitement all around.

Among the activities: lugging firewood back to camp.

With Katrina. It was so cute to watch you guys together. To watch how Zoe looks up to Katrina. And to think when we started Katrina wasn't yet in kindergarten.

And you got to play in Shawn & Mike's camper.
I didn't take a lot of pictures, but maybe next time.
Once I get my camping bearings again.
Like a fish out of water, I'm not sure how to act :)

Beach, beach, beach

Beach

Beach

Beach.
That's all you ever do!

We hit the Elm Creek pond 2 times in one week...getting our money's worth for the summer pass :)

Someone had a birthday...

Last week. And he had some help with his cake.

And more biking

This time out on 'the trail'.

We found a little more quiet place to go, but still pleasant.

Roman is a wee bit more independent. I got to push and steer Zoe most of the time.  Maybe we'll wait a couple bit more to do this...

One eventful Saturday

Sometimes it's better not to plan it out.

Watching half a driveway get poured at Grandma and Grandpa's?

While eating breakfast? Good way to start. I remember when my parents put in cement in the back of our house in South Minneapolis. Mostly I remember one of the workers paying a neighborhood kid something like $10 to make sure no one mucked it up. Thing is that guy had the kid pegged - he'd have been the one to 'accidentally' record his foot print in the wet cement.

Horses at the Washington County Fairgrounds with Grandma Jane?

Sure, why not?

A nice day to sit outside under the shade tree...

and converse.

And what was just on the other side of the parking lot?  A doggie obstacle course. The things that are out there, people. People spend their weekends doing lots of things. Running their dogs thru these courses wasn't something I'd ever even considered.

We ended our Washington sojourn with a stop at Nelson's ice cream. Oh my. Next time I'll get a photo of the ice cream. Since it was just the three of us I had a hard time doing that, but next time. And for goodness sake if you're ever in Stillwater stop at Nelson's (not downtown, up on the hill)! And order the child size (child size, ha!). If you take a look at their site, note the "lumberjack". We saw two kids (looked like boy/girl twins to me) walk out the door with one of those. INSANE.

Cap of the day with a little practice bike riding on the driveway?

All's good..

All's good...

Until a little girl tips the bike and skins her knee and elbow.

A little t.l.c. and, you guessed it, all's good.

CARS!

Grandpa Jon's old stomping grounds.

North St Paul History Cruzers started with a perfect weather night, and lots of people (but not so many that we felt the need to leave, if you know what I mean).

Pink. Worthy of a kiss.

Noise!

The car your Dad is currently enamored with.

As evidenced by the pictures that follow.

Must say, it does look nice. But I'm still not agreeing that he can buy one off Craig's list and fix it up. And that's all I will say on the blog.

And I thought the shadow of the letters on the interior looked kind of cool. But part of me wanted the shadows to spell out something funny. Although I don't know what that would be with those letters. lack i.

Huggy, huggy Roman.
The car that I thought your Dad was obsessed with (he does like his cars...)

She gets Daddy's sunglasses.
Ok, let's face it, she gets whatever she wants!

inaugural beach visit (2012)

Medicine Lake, French Regional Park

And if that wasn't enough...

You really enjoyed taking the shuttle from the parking lot to the beach (a quarter mile walk, or a couple minute drive going around the long way).

Hurrah!
