We LOVE our wagon!

Fun summer toys

Grandma Candy got us a pool and a wagon?!

Good times.
Hopefully Daddy will post soon about his tour of the backyard, with you two in tow.

AAAAAAAAAh!

Zoe makes this face.

I lost my dentures!

Roman has been making this face for the last week. It cracks us up.
There he goes...facemaking and crawling down the hall.

mah' crib

I've figured out how to pull myself to standing in the crib

Why does that worry you Grandma Candy?

Daddy lowered the mattress tonight as mommy fed you your bedtime bottle. You fell asleep with it and I put you in your lowrider crib. We think you're going to be a little confused when you wake up tomorrow morning. Where am I? How did that crib rail get so far away? The same look you give after you wake up from a nap in the car. How did I get here, and where is here anyway? That's what it looks like you're thinking at least.

9 months

It's hard to believe how BIG you've gotten and how much you've changed. Your Grandma Jane had a post on her blog today about a family in Western Wisconsin who had quintuplets. I was looking at their blog - little itty bitty 2 pounders. Looking at those pictures brought back some memories or you guys in the Special Care nursery. So small, so fragile. I can't believe how blessed we are that you're healthy and doing well. We appreciate it.

Coming home from work I thought it would be nice to have a picture with you guys at 9 months. In my mind I was holding one of you in each arm. Dad wasn't too keen on going out in the muggy heat, so we stayed inside. Down to the floor I went with you, but a kid in each arm? Not so much. The danger of holding Zoe up is that she'll pull my hair. Ouch! She loves hair. ♫ Hey Jealousy (the Gin Blossoms)♫

Roman is normally the climber, but he was slinking down and fussy. Grandma Candy to the rescue.

Out came the see and say "the cow says MOOOOO... The duck says QUACK QUACK QUACK". That brought both of them to a grinding halt. Those little kicking Roman legs stopped moving. Mesmerized.

9 months old?!

Happy Father's Day 3

Zoe, Daddy and Roman at Elm Creek Park Reserve on Fathers Day aught-niner.

We were pretty lazy on Sunday, but we did get out of the house in the late afternoon and took a stroll at the park. Of course then it started drizzling, but hey, what ya gonna do?

It's nice to go outside.
Mama didn't document very well the two activities on Saturday: the Minneapolis Farmer's Market and the Back to the 50's car show at the State Fair. Too hectic, too....not controlled. One of these days I'll get the hang of it. Especially since we got to meet little Frankie on Saturday- the beautiful 7 month old niece of Aunt Kitty..Okay, next time we'll get the pictures! I think maybe it has to do with the (sometimes) dormant shyness of your mother. Get over it, eh?

Happy Father's Day 2

Happy Father's Day!

Daddy actually took those above. Several days ago when he came out of the shower you two were sleepily sleeping.

And a few days later:

R stayed awake.

Sippy cup time!

I stopped at the ol' WMart_in_the_city® on the way home to pick up some little swimmers diapers. Gotta prep for summer fun... I had to peruse the baby section to see what else I might need. Oatmeal. almost out of baby oatmeal. Sippy cup? Sure, seems like the kidlets might be able to start trying. They loved them, although I'm not too sure they were actually getting anything from them. Mostly the were tipped so no water would come out. Practice.

More like another toy. Oh! This is new!

Summer time!

After some crappy weather (summer, where are you?!) we finally had a nice weekend. Mama wasn't so good at documenting this weekend. My work trip got me out of blog mode. Actually I'm finding it totally throws me off and I'm all out of sorts. Hopefully I'll be re-adjusted soon. Today would be good. :)
Friday night we met Grandma Jane and headed to the North St Paul Car show. Always a good time. This is the town your Grandpa Jon grew up in, so it's fun to go back and visit. I always think of NSP as a suburb, but I left Friday night thinking it's more like a small town. Whatever that means! We'll be back again this summer, so consider this fair notice you'll be seeing car pictures sometime soon. Babes and cars.

I spent Saturday cracking the whip - daddy helped with a bunch of housekeeping duties. And we got you out of the house to visit more people (you really do love that). Daddy's aunt's stepson had an open house for graduation (Tina's Max), so we spent a few hours hanging out by their pool.

I suppose that was inspiration for Sunday.
Hangin' at the pool.

Okay, it's really a bath, but hey you gotta start somewhere, right?

Of course things OUTSIDE the pool are interesting.

Camera time! Of course I couldn't get them both to look at the camera.

Daddy's working the video camera and got a smile from Zoe.

Don't worry guys, we're working on a bigger pool!

Kickin' back...

The Best Birfday Ever !!!

Thank you all! I had the best birthday ever! It rained Saturday as usual, It always rains on my Bday, But Friday night, I got the TV anttenae up and the outside wiring done before the rain. Saturday I got all the inside wiring done at my leisure. And I got to take a good long nap with Roman on the floor! That was the best. I have been working for 2 companies alot lately and havent had time to stop and smell the flowers with the kids, so Saturday being a lazy day with the kids was great. That evening we went to Boston's Pizza for dinner and when the dessert came, while Mommy was holding Roman, trying to eat her cake at the same time, when she brought the spoon to her mouth, Roman opened his like a baby bird thinking it was for him! And on Sunday, we went to the Edina Art Fair, and Zoe, little miss hair dresser, grabbed a handfull of a stranger's hair (poor girl was shocked when Zoe grabbed her hair!)
It is Monday nite and Mommy is yet again on a bidness trip, this time to the Hartford, and she wanted me to post something new. This ones for you Mommy!

Roman has learned to pull himself up on his own and stand up. So while giving sister Zoe a bath, Roman crawled into the bathroom on his own and wanted to give a helping hand!

And video is always good!

P.S. I am posting on Mommy's computer thats why it says Mary posted this...

Happy Birthday Daddy!

I met your dad in May of 2003. We emailed and talked on the phone to each other for a bit before, but our first face to face meeting was in May. The 12th I think.

Daddy's birthday was only a month or so into dating. At that point I didn't know a lot about him. Only the kind of stuff you talk about on first dates. Do I remember many of those conversation? I remember some, snippets of our courtship. One that comes to mind is a conversation we had about favorite foods. We were riding in his work cube truck and he answered my question about what he liked to eat. He said his favorite food would have to be oatmeal. Oatmeal? Are you kidding me? Oatmeal? Yes, he insisted it was. Okay. Truth be told I kind of liked that about your dad, it was a bit off the wall. Second truth be told: I've seen him eat oatmeal a handful of times in the 6 years I've known him. Apparently he doesn't want to ruin its favored status. But I digress.

We also got on the topic of books. I'm not sure how we got there, but he had mentioned a book from his childhood, Minn of the Mississippi. It was a favorite. For his birthday I got him that book. He was genuinely impressed. Of course when he mentioned it is such a casual way I figured that would be a cool gift. He liked it. And said he'd read it to his kids one day. He kept saying stuff like that, it made me wonder what the heck was going on. Because I really liked your dad and most guys didn't talk about having kids. At least the ones I knew! That night we went out to dinner at Dixies on Grand. He had jambalaya. Another thing I learned about him. He likes the jambalaya. Apparently his uncle Brett used to make it a mean version of it. Me, I stay away from shrimp and seafood in general. So mama doesn't make the jambalaya.
I remember him talking at that dinner how taking a trip down the Mississippi on a houseboat would be a fun trip. I think he even said it would be a good honeymoon. Ok, again with the "why are you saying this? No guy says this" moment for your mama. Your dad is a unique fellow.

And the icing on the cake, so to speak...A homemade Oatmeal cake (something like this). I thought I had nailed it with that one, but he really didn't seem all that impressed. I almost thought about making one today, but I think he prefers the chocolate variety more!

Happy Birthday Mike!
I love you and hope to have many more stories to tell about birthdays present and future. Today would include a story of daddy installing a new tv antenna (we're moving on up from rabbit ears...the switch to digital is next week..You won't even know a world without it. Yikes.)

Elm Creek

We took a trip to Maple Grove on Wednesday. We ended up walking around the shopping area, but I wanted to check out Elm Creek Park Reserve. Wow! We'll be going back.
We found a nice shady spot in the picnic/playground area. Here are the kids, ready for the camera (as always)

We didn't stay long. It was time for a bottle and Zoe wasn't having any part of the one I brought for her. She was fussy Tuesday afternoon at daycare too. I was trying to get them to transition to a heavier flow bottle (rated for 6 months - at 8 that should work, no? No.) So home we headed...

Hi!

We think they might say "hi". At least it sounds like that. Since I say it to them about 100 times a day I wouldn't be surprised...

I'm signing to them too. I think they've got a good understanding of the sign for "eat". It'll be fun when they sign back. Roman: "eat" "more"

A new room to explore!

Roman now gets himself to the kitchen. So it was time to start cleaning up a bit. No more glass bowls or lids within reach...Then I thought I'd make it more interesting for him. Sure enough, banging the lid on the floor was fun!

We took a trip to B-R-Us today, but they don't carry the baby gate I want. I think I'm going to have to order it online. Soon!

Peek- a- boo!

Springbrook

On the advice of our daycare provider, we headed out on Saturday to the Springbrook Nature Center in Fridley.

We'll be going back with daddy (and mommy will be wearing shoes that work better on the non-paved trails).

Zoe lost both shoes. Thankfully we circled back and found both. Hurrah! I don't know why I even bother. Oh yeah, they are so darn cute. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the sandles, so this will have to do :)
