On the day the weather turned, we headed out to the Grandparents for a visit before meeting Uncle Andy at the Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter's Oktoberfest Family Day. There's a mouthful- in keeping with the German language.
Zoe got in some Grandma Jane time.
One must have pretzels ( Brezeln ) ! I'm taking a lunchtime German language class at work, so I'll be throwing out German words for the twins. Since I studied Spanish and it seems to be integrated into a lot of children's programming maybe I should teach them some of that too. They are REALLY going to be confused. Deuspanglish.
We started out with little of pretzel bits, but ended up handing Zoe and Roman their own chunk. They did well with it. Grandma Jane and Grandpa Jon decided to join us at Oktoberfest.
Action shot! Zoe's making her face and you can see my hand, getting ready to wave away the bee (bzzzz! that's a favorite in your animal book) from Grandma's face. EEK.
Bee's gone. We can smile and enjoy the music, and the crowd.
And Roman was entertaining us with stories. You know, stories about the first time he tried a pretzel (it was delicious). Wait, that was just 10 minutes ago. You've got a lot of blank pages to fill Roman and Zoe! And you'll have fun doing it.
Uncle Andy and Zoe. Notice the big smile on Zoe's face. Zoe! Smile!
We went to visit the "petting zoo". Zoe wasn't too interested in getting too close. Instead she prepared her thumb and stuck it in her mouth. I get a kick out of watching her do it because it's so...mechanical. But it's a cue that she's tired or uncomfortable or needs some reassurance.
BBBBBBLLLLLEEEEAAAAAATTT (another fun sound to make with your animal book)
Ah, there's always next year...Maybe we'll try strudel that time.
