Only walk as far as you are willing to carry a child back

Or abandon that thought and go where it looks interesting. Yeah, I took the latter advice.

To get there , we had to meander a hay maze.

Hey! Hay is for horses, you like to remind us.  We kept an eye out for animals.

Not too many farm animals except those cooped chickens...but grasshoppers galloping by the gazillions.

This made for a worthy diversion if one of you got antsy of "carry me up"-ish.

Our destination - the fishing pier on the lake!

We had it all to ourselves. That's what happens in the middle of the afternoon on a Monday in September.

Rather than being totally focused on the scene at hand, Zo was attempting to re-claim the collection she'd created on our walk down. If only...

She could extract.... them.... from......her...pocket...

Ta da! One acorn produced!

What a lovely day. We'll bring your Dad back here with us next time.

A little self portrait time.

Zoe's disappearing act

And a snack on the dock. What better place, eh?

Love ya!

This much!

Let's race. Here's where it's handy to have a twin, or a sibling at least.
Here is where I stole the technique from the photographer at your Aunt Shannon and Uncle Ryan's wedding. Run to the camera, kiddos!

Stopping is just fine too.

Just about time to head back.

And find more acorns.

No trepidation or hand holding needed on this hike. I told you your dad would need to take his van to the Scrubbly, Bubbly Car Wash if he drove it on this road. Ah what fun to mix up real life and the books we check out from the library (but don't ask about "Letice", the book BadRoman decided to disassemble....still gotta pay that fine!)

Hey! Wait!

See ya later, ma!

And again thru the hay. Two little munchkins zigging and zagging.

See ya later, chickens!

By the way, you guys told me the big orange one was the mama. Ok, if you say so.

What wonderful experiences and adventures for Roman & Zoe to learn about their world. Great parenting.
